What are "Dry Eyes" and how can they be treated?
This is the term used when eyes are insufficiently moisturized, either because they don't produce enough tears or because the tears have an improper chemical composition. It often occurs during the natural aging process, but it can also form as a result of eyelid or blinking problems, certain medications, menopause, climate, injury, and various health problems. It can be uncomfortable, damage eye tissue, scar the cornea and impair vision. Dr. Nelson can evaluate and treat dry eyes. It can be treated by adding artificial tears, medication, diet, supplements, punctual occlusion, and eyelid hygiene.
